Dolly Parton has set the record straight when it comes to her having any tattoos.
Rumours have been rife that the country music legend, 74, is partial to some ink.
There was speculation that Dolly has arm sleeve tattoos – because she’s alway seen covering her arms up with long-sleeved clothing – but she insists that’s not the case, telling People she has some tats and they’re all ‘tasteful’.
Dolly told the publication: ‘I do have some tattoos, that’s true. But, they’re tasteful, I’m not a tattoo girl.’
Insisting that her tattoos are more inconspicuous than a sleeve, she said: ‘My tattoos are pretty, they’re artful and they usually started out to cover some scar, not to make a big statement.’
In fact, Dolly’s first tattoo came after she was sick. She added: ‘I had to wear a feeding tube. It left a little indention in my side and I didn’t like it.
‘I had a little beehive tattooed over it… the mouth of it is that little sinkhole.’
Dolly said her tattoos are mainly made up of ‘ribbons and bows and butterflies’ and when quizzed over whether she has husband Carl Dean’s name etched onto her body, the Jolene hit-maker said she hadn’t, but her beau had ‘tattooed her heart’.
Confirmation of Dolly’s body art comes after it was revealed that the singer was actually a secret producer on iconic TV series Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
She’s just full of surprises, isn’t she.
Buffy ran for seven seasons between 1997 to 2003 and while Dolly’s name never appeared in the show’s credits, a production company co-created and owned by Dolly was partly responsible for bringing the series to the small screen.
Sandallor Entertainment was behind the first incarnation of Buffy – a feature film starring Kirsty Swanson in the lead role.
The film was a bit of a flop, but Joss Whedon was later convinced to adapt his screenplay for the TV, Sarah Michelle Gellar was drafted in to replace Swanson and Buffy soon became the show that we all know and love.
