Dog lover Ant McPartlin close to tears watching emotional Britain’s Got Talent performance

Dog lover Ant McPartlin was close to tears as he watched an emotional Britain’s Got Talent performance during last night’s semi-finals.

The presenter was on the brink of crying as dog and owner act Amanda and Miracle took to the stage where Amanda re-created the first moment she rescued her beloved pet pooch.

Miracle had been caged along with 1,000 other dogs and headed for the Thai dog meat trade when he was taken in by Amanda.

The routine told the heartwrenching story of Miracle and Amanda meeting for the first time and featured a number of magic tricks.

Miracle was represented by a puppet, but at the end of the performance, the real dog appeared from behind a curtain and came darting towards his owner.

Despite the tear-jerking performance, Amanda and Miracle didn’t make it through to the final.

Since bringing Miracle back to the UK, Amanda explained that the pooch has built a close relationship with her son Kyle, who has cerebral palsy and autism.

Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk about their relationship and how Kyle helped Miracle trust humans again, Amanda said: ‘He was a very, very broken dog when he arrived here, and he was obviously terrified of men, which is very very common with a lot of rescue animals.

‘The trauma that he had gone through, it was deep-rooted and so it took a long time, and what you tend to find with animals that have been rescued is sometimes they really seek solace in children.

‘Children are very innocent, and particularly my little boy who has cerebral palsy, autism and he can’t speak.’

She added that Miracle and Kyle formed a close bond over time.

Britain’s Got Talent continues on Saturday at 8pm on ITV.
