Cynthia Nixon has given her take on whether Sharon Stone should play Samantha in a third Sex and the City movie.
The comedy drama moved to the big screen for two films in 2008 and 2010, but a third instalment never got off the ground as star Kim Cattrall reportedly refused to appear.
With Kim, who played Samantha on the series, repeatedly making it very clear she has no time for co-star Sarah Jessica Parker, who played Carrie, there has been talk about whether Kim’s part should be recast.
Sharon Stone is one name fans have been throwing into the mix, and now Cynthia – who played Miranda – has weighed in. And she’s all for it.
‘I think Sharon would be, of course, totally amazing,’ she said on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
‘Kim was incredibly great as Samantha, I think Sharon would totally make it her own.’
Sharon herself, who is starring with Cynthia in Ratched, said hadn’t heard of the casting suggestion but she would be ‘honoured’ to work with Cynthia again.
The Killing Reagan star added: ‘I’ve also heard many people say — including Kim Cattrall herself — that if we were to have a different fourth woman that maybe it would be a woman of color this time, and I think that would be amazing as well.’
Kim tweeted two years ago that she would like to see Oprah, Tiffany Haddish or Sofia Vergara play her outgoing character.
Addressing her public feud with SJP, Kim confessed that she has ‘no regrets’ about hitting out on social media and in interviews.
When it was revealed her brother, who had gone missing in Canada, had died in 2018, she accused Sarah of ‘exploiting her family tragedy’ after the actress sent her ‘love and condolences’ online.
Kim hit back on Instagram calling her message ‘a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now’.
Meanwhile Sarah has insisted the pair never fought one another and was ‘heartbroken’ when her former co-star said they ‘were never friends’.
