BTS have shared their new goals and plans for the future after their latest history-making achievement.

The K-pop group reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this week with new English-language single Dynamite, becoming the first South Korean act to do so.

The only way is up for members RM, Suga, Jin, Jimin, Jungkook, J-Hope and V and they’re aiming high with plans for a massive outdoor event as soon as it’s safe to do so. Plus there’s the hotly anticipated comeback to think about…

Speaking to Metro.co.uk and other press at an online conference on Wednesday morning, rapper RM shared: ‘We’d like to put on a festival, a really big performance to bring together everyone. That itself feels unrealistic at the moment, that itself feels like a very big dream, but putting on a show outdoors.

‘We are preparing for another album and we will put on another concert. Whether it will be online or offline, probably online, but we will put on another concert.’

Smiling, he added: ‘BTS will do the best at the things we can do. We will be as BTS as we can. We say “check it up”. On stage and off stage we will “check it up”.’

Meanwhile Suga said their next goal in their career is a BTS stage at the Grammys, and possibly even a win.

The group previously joined rapper Lil Nas X on stage this year as part of his performance of his viral hit Old Town Road.

Suga said: ‘I have to mention our performance on the Grammy awards stage. We did a collaboration performance but I would like to do a BTS stage and to win an award.

‘But we need a lot of help from a lot of people, so for now just performing on the Grammy award stage [is the goal].’

After Dynamite, ARMY – the name for BTS’ fandom – can now look forward to a track the members can’t wait for everyone to hear.

Jimin said: ‘We really like our song this time but we also like our song next time so we hope you look forward to it.’

There was much discussion about their chart-topping achievement, which they learned about in the early hours of the morning when RM sent an image of the Billboard chart to their group chat.

While there were ‘tears’ from Jimin, Jin was convinced his leader was pulling his leg: ‘I said it was a doctored image, it must be fake, but he posted it again and I realised it’s real. It’s something BTS and ARMY achieved together.’

‘I’m still having a hard time accepting its real,’ Suga said, and Jungkook was skeptical too: ‘I wasn’t sure if this webpage I was looking at was really real, I was out of it for a little bit. It’s really our ARMY who has helped us reach this milestone and make this achievement.’

What has kept them going throughout the seven years they have been together is not only their fans, but each other.

Rapper J-Hope shared a message he had for his members, saying: ‘All the members are really precious to me, and they have become a reason for my life and existence.

‘Be with me and with us for the rest of my life. I want to say I love you to all the members.’

V shared: ‘All of the difficulties we had to go through [are] all pleasant and sweet memories and that really amplifies the joy that I have now.

‘I feel I have received an award, a certificate, and that makes me happy.’
