In recent weeks, Adam Pearce has become an unlikely WWE star as the backstage producer has become a fantastic supporting character.
The retired wrestler – who was a real force on the independent scene and held the NWA World Heavyweight Championship on five occasions – joined the company as a guest coach and trainer in 2013, before going full time two years later.
Since then, he’s largely worked behind the scenes helping other wrestlers with their matches, but that has all changed over the summer.
After appearing on screen during the Intercontinental Title tournament to keep the likes of AJ Styles in line, he has become almost a de facto authority figure delivering news to superstars as and when required.
Last week, he got everyone talking at the end of SmackDown when he looked terrified as Bray Wyatt was stretchered into an ambulance only for The Fiend to emerge.
On Friday night, he was a driving force behind the whole show as Vince McMahon tasked him with getting Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman and “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt with signing their Universal Title contract for Payback.
He was on fire all night without trying to steal the show, and many fans got a chuckle out of his Postman Pearce outfit in the Firefly Funhouse.
What many people watching may not realise is the incredible resume Adam built up over the years, with major titles reigns in the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla.
He was inducted into the NWA Hall of Fame in 2015, which places him alongside bona fide legends such as Jim Ross, Ricky Steamboat, Dusty Rhodes, Terry Funk, Ric Flair and Hardy Race.
He retired in 2014, bowing out of the indy scene after losing to long time rival Colt Cabana at Championship Wrestling Hollywood in their ninth and final match.
