The MTV VMAs are always a chance for the stars to show off their best fashion – and this year was no exception despite the different format to usual.
While this year’s show is mostly virtual, with socially-distanced performances from the biggest stars, the nominees still donned their finery for the red carpet.
Leading the arrivals was Miley Cyrus, who chose a sheer black mesh dress with silver embellishments all over it.
She completed the look with matching gloves and simple black scrappy shoes to ensure the focus was on the gown itself.
The Slide Away star kept her jewellery simple with a silver choker and hooped earrings and went for a bold lipstick to complete the outfit.
Lady Gaga is never one to shy away from an unforgettable red carpet outfit and her VMAs look did not disappoint.
Choosing a silver coat-dress which was a statement in itself, Gaga channeled the moon man with a clear glass headpiece and the classic towering stiletto boots she has long been known for.
She completed the look with a long icy grey wig and we can guarantee this look will go down in VMAs history.
Machine Gun Kelly’s favourite colour of late has been pink, and his VMAs outfit certainly reflected that.
The rapper chose an all-fuchsia outfit complete with a pearl necklace and black patent shoes, as he posed with his first MTV VMA award, giving the moon man a kiss.
The Weeknd went for red and black, with make up on his face to look like injuries – ouch!
He added black leather gloves to the eye-catching outfit, finishing it off with black and white shoes.
The Black Eyed Peas went for a white and denim theme, with accessories including bandanas, hats and a very Covid-appropriate mask for their turn on the red carpet.
Nicole Richie gave fans serious Tinkerbell vibes in her green dress with a long train and a chic folded design.
She accessorised with a spiky crown and luminous heels in a slightly brighter shade than her dress.
Blink 182’s Travis Barker made his feelings known on his mask – telling everyone: ‘Don’t trust anyone’.
The rock star drew attention to his elaborate neck tattoos with.a silver necklace with skulls on it, and topped off the look with a black beanie hat.
Bebe Rexha rocked a black leather jacket with lace details along with cycling shorts, keeping her hair back in a simple ponytail, she let her long blue nails do the talking.
Latin star Maluma kept it classic in an all-black outfit with gold buttons and simple jewellery. Classy and cool.
Doja Cat went for a striking red number with embellishments, completing her look with an extra long plait down her back and simple jewellery.
It was all about designer for DaBaby, who rocked Louis Vuitton shorts and a Dolce and Gabanna hat as he posed up on the red carpet.
Jaden Smith’s brightly coloured jacket was the ideal look for the socially-distanced red carpet – we love.
