Jamie Oliver and Jimmy Doherty’s Friday Night Feast has been postponed indefinitely, new reports claim.
The Channel 4 series, which sees a host of famous faces cook in a tiny Southend Pier hut, has been shelved until further notice after social distancing made filming impossible.
As a result, plans for any new series has been put on hold.
‘They had to make a decision with the health and wellbeing of those involved in making the show their utmost priority,’ a source told The Sun.
‘It would be nigh-on impossible to get celebrities in as guests safely too. It would be a real health and safety nightmare.’
However, it was further claimed that the show hasn’t been officially cancelled, and that once the pandemic is over it may be revived.
The cooking show has been running for seven series, with celebs including Star Wars’ Mark Hamill, Bake Off’s Mary Berry and Sir Patrick Stewart taking on the challenge of the tiny cafe.
Metro.co.uk has approached Channel 4 for comment.
The new blow comes after Jamie launched an at-home cooking show, Keep Cooking and Carry On, which was filmed to help people with easy recipes during the pandemic.
Recruiting wife Jools as his cameraman, the chef has taught us everything from easy-make cakes, the secret to the perfect cheese toastie, to how to cook the perfect curry using tins that were left on our shelves.
This year also marks Jools and Jamie’s 20th anniversary.
Jamie and James’s Friday Night Feast is available for Channel 4.
