A further 49 people have died with coronavirus in the UK, bringing the nation’s death toll – as of Thursday – to 46,413.

The figure covers deaths in all settings, including hospitals, care homes, and the community. The actual cause of death may not be Covid-19 in all cases and people who died from the virus but didn’t test positive are not included in the total.

Meanwhile, a couple who claim they saw Dominic Cummings on a second trip to Durham during lockdown have complained to a police watchdog about the officers investigating their report.

New witnesses Dave and Clare Edwards have gone public with claims they also saw Mr Cummings in Houghall Woods on the morning of April 19.

The pair told The Mirror they are ‘100% certain’ it was Mr Cummings, and later reported their alleged sighting to Durham Police, however Durham Constabulary stated that they had insufficient evidence to support the allegations of Mr Cummings making a second trip.

When they received the details on their report per a Subject Access Request, they felt the information showed their claims had not been taken seriously, causing them to file an official complaint with the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
