Another 18 people have died in the UK with coronavirus, bringing the total UK death toll – as of Saturday – to 41,423.
The figures cover deaths in all settings, including care homes and the wider community.
Meanwhile, a second national lockdown could be put in place as the R rate has crept over one for the first time since restrictions were lifted, senior Government advisers have warned.
It comes as Oldham and parts of Blackburn and Pendle face new restrictions preventing socialising, while Birmingham risks entering local lockdown after being added to the Government’s coronavirus watch list due to rapidly rising new infections.
