The UK has recorded the highest number of daily coronavirus cases since June, according to data from Public Health England released on Wednesday.
In the 24 hours leading up to 9am on Tuesday, there were 1,148 new Covid-19 cases recorded, bringing the total number to 312,789.
It is the biggest daily increase in cases since June 21, when 1,221 cases were reported.
Meanwhile, the Government is looking for a ‘Head of Pandemic Preparedness’ to help ‘learn the lessons’ of the coronavirus pandemic.
Internal applicants for the newly created £61,000 job will be interviewed by the Department of Health in the first two weeks of December.
The advert, shared on the Government’s internal system says whoever gets the job will be tasked with implementing ‘lessons learned’ from Covid-19, including ‘reviewing our approach to pandemic stockpiling’, the Mirror reports.
