Former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood compared Anthony Martial to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry after the Manchester United forward’s sensational goal against Bournemouth.
The Frenchman took his tally for the season to 20 goals by bagging United’s second in their 5-2 win against the Cherries at Old Trafford.
Martial hit a hat-trick in his last game at the Theatre of Dreams during a 3-0 win against Sheffield United and he was on the scoresheet again with a sublime curled strike from outside that area that flew past Aaron Ramsdale.
The 24-year-old arrived at Old Trafford as a fairly unknown striker from Monaco and his background drew instant comparisons with Henry.
Martial’s trademark goal is similar to the iconic Henry finish that made the Frenchman the deadliest forward in Europe and Sherwood says there are strong similarities between the duo.
Commenting on Martial’s goal against the Cherries, Sherwood said: ‘Well it could have been Thierry Henry, couldn’t it?
‘He drifts in from the left hand side there, he knows exactly what he wants to do.
‘Look at the run from Luke Shaw that attracts Adam Smith so it allows him to drag it inside. He give him the yard he needs to curl it inside the postage stamp.’
Martial and Rashford both netted their 20th goals of the season during the win.
With Mason Greenwood on 15 for the campaign, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s attacking trio have 55 goals between them.
However, the Norwegian remains intent on signing a right midfielder and he’s desperate to agree a deal for Jadon Sancho.
Dortmund value the winger at £100m but United want to negotiate a lower fee.
