New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has claimed he’s been the latest victim of Sacha Baron Cohen after a bizarre interview resulted in him having to call the police.
The 76-year-old attended a set-up interview in Manhattan for what he believed was a discussion on his coronavirus response.
However, speaking to Page Six, Giuliani revealed it went off course very quickly when his loudmouth interviewer arrived in a bright pink costume.
‘It was a pink bikini, with lace, underneath a translucent mesh top, it looked absurd. He had the beard, bare legs, and wasn’t what I would call distractingly attractive,’ Giuliani explained.
‘This person comes in yelling and screaming, and I thought this must be a scam or a shake-down, so I reported it to the police.’
‘I only later realized it must have been Sacha Baron Cohen,’ he continued.
‘I thought about all the people he previously fooled and I felt good about myself because he didn’t get me.’
No arrests were made at the incident, with ‘Sacha’ running off before the cops arrived.
Metro.co.uk has contacted reps for Sacha Baron Cohen for comment.
The run-in occurred as the satirical prankster is reportedly filming a new series of This Is America, which stirred controversy last year.
Videos from a right-wing rally showed a man believed to be Cohen tricking the audience into singing about ‘Wuhan Flu’.
In the previous series, he managed to convince government officials to back a gun initiative for three-year-olds – with guns looking like fluffy animals in an ad telling kids to aim for ‘heads, shoulders, not the toes’.
He also attempted to get OJ Simpson to confess to murder in a hidden camera confrontation.
