There have been another 83 deaths reported from coronavirus, bringing the UK’s death toll – as of Wednesday – to 45,961.
The total number of lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases is now 301,455, with 763 newly reported.
Meanwhile, new research suggests one in 14 Brits have already been infected with the virus.
A study of more than 20,000 people across the UK found that 7.1% of the population have been infected with Sars-Cov-2 – the virus that causes Covid-19.
That means nearly 5 million people could have been infected if the findings are representative.
The study saw blood antibody tests conducted on 20,200 people over the age of 18 – a combination of existing Biobank participants, their children, and grandchildren. The samples were examined by scientists at Oxford University.
