A further 13 people have died in UK hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus.
All 13 people passed away in England, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths in UK hospitals – as of Saturday – to 33,749, based on figures announced by each region.
The latest figures follow the Government’s decision to pause the daily death toll announcements following accusations that the numbers have been exaggerated.
Health Secretary Matt Hancock ordered an urgent review into how Public Health England has been calculating the daily figures, with experts claiming the organisation counts people as victims if they die of any cause at any time after testing positive for Covid-19.
