There are huge scenes ahead in a major week for Coronation Street as Gary Windass (Mikey North) faces the end of the road, quite literally, in soap’s first socially distanced stunt.
But will Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) keep his murder secret? Elsewhere, Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew) is becoming more and more unnerved by Elaine’s (Paula Cox) arrival – and he has a good right as she vows to Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) to do all she can to save Yasmeen (Shelley King).
Monday 27 July
Yasmeen wakes up in hospital after her heart attack and learns the trial has been exposed. Elaine is sad to hear that Tim believes Geoff’s side of the story.
Brian is annoyed that Bernie sold the watch and sold it to Sarah. Gary apologises to Brian but he is panicked when he hears about the watch in the wood.
Ed explains that Aggie had to get the bus to work. Abi tells Ed that Aggie can use Kevin’s car since the neighbourhood is so grateful for her putting herself on the frontline.
Mary gives a rendition from her upstairs window until Sean tells her to pack in her balcony singing.
Wednesday 29 July
It’s the Baileys’ wedding anniversary and Ed is disappointed to miss out on breakfast with Aggie. Michael warns Ed against an online party. Jenny prepares a buffet but Aggie phones to say she has to isolate as her colleague has been displaying COVID-19 symptoms. Ed is gutted as she will be in a hotel for the forseeable.
Gary pays Bernie cash for the watch and begs her to do her best to get it back from Sarah. Bernie cajoles Sarah but Sarah realises Gary wants it and she is suspicious. She demands to know from Gary if he killed Rick. After a shocking revelation Sarah flees into the path of a van. Gary pushes her out of the way – and is hit by the van instead.
Alya is delighted to get in touch with Elaine, who tells her she will give evidence against Geoff and will help Yasmeen.
Friday 31 July
Gary is in a bad way and Sarah pleads with him to wake up. Tyrone phones an ambulance and Gary is rushed to hospital – but will Sarah keep his secret. Adam and Maria arrive at the hospital and Sarah explains that Gary saved her life. Tyrone describes that he saw Gary chasing her but Sarah lies that it was a pure coincidence. Adam is dubious but tells the police she is too shaken to give a statement.
Geoff claims that Elaine is lying to a doubtful Tim. Tim assures Geoff that he will report Elaine to the police and he tells Sally about the visit but Sally is convinced that Geoff is lying. Alya implores Elaine not to leave – she is Yasmeen’s only hope. What will Elaine do?
Ed is sad about his anniversary but James and Michael try to lift his spirits. Ed sits for a virtual anniversary dinner with Aggie and she is touched.
