Strictly Come Dancing bosses are working hard to make sure this year’s series will go ahead in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.

New reports claim that producers are looking at signing celebrities who don’t have young children or other dependents so they can be away from home for a long period of time to isolate before, during, and after the show.

‘The team at Strictly have plans A, B and C — each corresponding to the level of risk,’ an insider said.

‘One measure being looked at is booking stars who do not have young dependents.

‘If there is a worst-case scenario and the celebs have to quarantine before and during the series, it would mean weeks away from their children.’

The source continued to The Sun: ‘They want to minimise the risk of anyone who is booked getting cold feet at the thought of having to be away from home for such a long time.

‘Most of the stars who have been on the show, including Kelvin Fletcher and Catherine Tyldesley, had to be away from their kids for long periods.’

Back in April, BBC boss Kate Phillips gave an insight into their plans for the show.

‘We are absolutely looking very carefully at Strictly and how we could do Strictly this autumn.

‘That is absolutely one of our big priorities, making sure we can bring you a great Strictly. But I think inevitably things are going to change.’

This news follows reports that Strictly is hoping to welcome its doors to the show’s first-ever all-female couple.

Bosses are said to be hoping to secure a high-profile LGBTQ+ woman to make up one half of its inaugural same-sex couple after deciding that an all-male couple would be ‘too predictable’.

Strictly Come Dancing is expected to return to BBC One later this year.
