Was there anything more terrifying than The Demon Headmaster when you came home from primary school back in the 90s?

Despite only running for 19 episodes, the tale of the freaky headmaster and his mind control powers on the kids was peak kids TV back in the day – as Dinah and her foster brothers tried to defeat him.

We never could look our headmaster in the eyes again after that.

Running for three years, the show’s now been given a reboot, and last year a whole new bunch of kids can be hypnotised by it.

But what happened to the original kids once their time battling their evil principal was over?

We’ve gone and checked in on what’s been going down…

Thankfully, 83-year-old Terrence doesn’t seem half as scary in real life – and is continuing to act to this day.

After his time as the headmaster, he’s appeared as the Grand Wizzard in The Worst Witch, an episode of Doctor Who during the Matt Smith era, and in Netflix series, The Crown.

The actor has also been working in theatre, performing in plays across the UK.

In 2019, he made a guest appearance in the new reboot of The Demon Headmaster, handing over his glasses to the new man-in-charge, Nicholas Gleaves.

Frances didn’t really continue acting following her time on The Demon Headmaster – appearing in a short film in 2013, and indie horror film Souljacker in 2015.

However, she’s certainly been busy, graduating Newcastle University and becoming a dentist in 2009.

In 2016, she had another change in career direction, and got a diploma in executive coaching.

She launched her own executive coaching company in 2018, focusing on inclusion networks and increasing diversity in business, with a particular focus on trans staff.

Frances is also married, and has a child.

Gunnar stopped acting for 12 years after The Demon Headmaster, but then returned to the industry in 2010.

In 2011, he starred in the smash-hit film War Horse, and in 2018 joined the cast of Mars – a drama that tracks the attempts to colonize our nearby planet in 2033.

But mostly he’s been in theatre, appearing in Into The Woods, Hamlet and Assassins, and lending his voice to video games.

In 2019, he voiced Bragi in Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers.

Thomas’s last acting role was in 2002, when he played Lancaster in Goodbye Mr Chips.

Since then he has become a digital consultant and strategy developer, building his own businesses and helping start-up companies form their online branding, social media and web presences.

Tom also has a degree in the French language.

In March this year, he launched the One Small Step newsletter, aiming to direct people on how to affect change for the environment, politically, and during the pandemic.

She’s also had starring roles in shows including The Tempest, The Vagina Monologues and Wrecked.

Even back then, to adults and kids alike, Tessa Peake-Jones was better known as Raquel from Only Fools and Horses.

Tessa continued playing the Raquel through to 2003, with the show returning for specials. She then went on to appear in TV favourites including Holby City and Doctors.

She’s now a regular face on Grantchester, playing Mrs Chapman on the ITV dram for the past five seasons.

Now here’s a face you’ll almost definitely recognise – Eddy Hair, aka Danny John-Jules.

Since his time on the series, he’s known to most as The Cat in Red Dwarf, the humanoid feline with a flair for dancing and looking good at all times.

Landing the role in 1988, Danny has remained on the show ever since – joining the crew aboard the sitcom space ship when it returned after a 10-year absence in 2009, and is still on the series today.

He also spent seven years playing Officer Dwayne Myers in crime mystery Death in Paradise, announcing he wouldn’t be returning to the role in 2019.

Danny also took part on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018, becoming the seventh eliminated contestant from the series. It was eventually won that year by Stacey Dooley.
