The fourth Emmerdale lockdown episode is upon us tonight, and Jimmy and Nicola King (Nick Miles and Nicola Wheeler) take centre stage in yet another thrilling two hander episode.
Jimmy and Nicola are spending lockdown together — albeit in Laurel’s (Charlotte Bellamy) house — and inevitably, they begin to get one another’s nerves.
Nicola spends her time on local council business, but it soon becomes apparent that something is starting to bother her.
Being stuck in the house results in Jimmy realising that Nicola’s not in the best of form, but he’s at a loss over what to do.
Before long, she reveals what’s troubling her, as she claims her life is dull and boring, and that every other villager is living a better, more exciting life than she is.
Speaking about the events of the special episode, actress Nicola Wheeler — who portrays Nicola —said: ‘I think Nicola is doing a little bit of life assessment.’
‘When every day is the same you start looking at your life and there’s a scene in the episode where she says “when lookdown ends and everything goes back to normal, I’m going to be still doing the same thing”.
‘I think what’s become apparent for her is that nothing’s changed much apart from not being able to go out.
‘She’s reevaluating her life and what she’s doing. She starts to get a bit sad as she realises she has nothing much to look forward to once lockdown ends.’
With Nicola not in the best of form — and her marriage seemingly on the rocks too —will she and Jimmy be able to navigate this together?
