The BTS ARMY has been hard at work over the past few days, matching BTS and Big Hit’s donation of $1million (£786,000) to Black Lives Matter.
So James Corden, aka Papa Mochi, thought they deserved a special treat.
The Late Late Show host has shared an unseen clip from BTS’s Carpool Karaoke, and if you had just managed to get Baby Shark out of your heads, sorry, it’s gonna be permanently on a loop in your head again.
Nearly four months after the K-pop superstars’ edition of Carpool Karaoke aired, Corden decided to honour the ARMY after their efforts in Black Lives Matter campaigning.
Speaking of the Fake Love singers and their label donating $1million to the cause, the 41-year-old said: ‘Knowing BTS, they didn’t just sign a cheque. I guarantee you there was a three-minute tightly choreographed dance routine leading up to the signing of that cheque.’
James then praised BTS fans, as well as other fandoms including those of BLACKPINK and NCT, for spamming #AllLivesMatter and #WhiteLivesMatter hashtags with fancams to drown out the hate, joking: ‘You just know that there’s some angry guy out there trying to be racist, but now he just can’t stop dancing to Boy With Luv.
‘So while the President is busy threatening military force, it’s clear to me that the only troops we should be sending in right now is the BTS ARMY.’
As a thank you, James aired an unseen clip from his show, in which he asked the boys if they ever used to sing ‘in the round’ on tour buses or planes.
RM suggested a good tune for a singalong would be the viral sensation and bane of every parent’s existence Baby Shark – resulting in James, RM, Jimin, J-Hope, Jungkook, V, Suga and Jin belting out the earworm.
However, it got even better when they effortlessly segued into a remix, singing the chorus to LMFAO and Lil Jon’s Shots – with the word Shark replacing Shots.
Genius.
RM quipped: ‘Baby Shark collaborated with Lil Jon. It’s gonna hit.’
James said following the clip: ‘Thanks again BTS and all of the ARMYs out there – you have made this Papa Mochi very proud.’
In February, the Gavin and Stacey star obtained the nickname Papa Mochi after teasing Jimin about one of the nicknames given to him by the fans. Mochi.
BTS have not commented on their donation to Black Lives Matter, but Kailee Scales, managing director for Black Lives Matter told Variety: ‘Black people all over the world are in pain at this moment from the trauma of centuries of oppression.
‘We are moved by the generosity of BTS and allies all over the world who stand in solidarity in the fight for Black lives.’
